International Builders Show 2010
Las Vegas, Nevada, January 19-22, 2010
The Professional Builder’s Show Village at the NAHB’s 2010 International Builders’ Show will feature three modular homes built by the Palm Harbor Homes family of builders. This is the sixth year that Palm Harbor and its subsidiaries have supplied the homes for the Professional Builder’s Show Village. We hope to see you there! If you have questions about these homes or would like to schedule an appointment to see us at the show, you can contact Steve Reyenga at sreyenga@palmharbor.com. Check back for photos of these homes.
The Highlander
Approx. 1,408 square feet on 1st floor, 1 bedroom, 1.5 baths
Approx. 1,012 square feet of expandable living space on cape floor
The high-impact exterior appeal of the Highlander immediately reveals its naturally adaptability for resort or retreat living. However, the strength of this 1.5 floor, 2,420 square foot home is its adaptability to every stage of life. Delivered with 1 bedroom and 1.5 baths on the completed first floor and an additional 1,012 square feet of unfinished living space on the second floor, this home is perfect for the young family seeking an affordable point for their first home with the added bonus of additional expansion room as needed for bedrooms, a media room or home offices. Homebuyers seeking a mountain or beach retreat can finish out the second floor with additional sleeping quarters or a game room, as can those who are downsizing but desire room for the occasional visiting guests.
La Linda
Approx. 2,193 square feet, 3 bedrooms, 2 baths
At approximately 2,193 square feet, the La Linda is designed for the wide-open, easy living patterns of today’s fast-paced family life in a spacious one-story ranch. The natural strength and beauty of the open American Prairie are sumptuously layered into the flowing, linear dimensions, rich, warm metals and natural textures integrated throughout the exterior and the interior of this simply elegant home. Today’s hurried and harried homebuyer will be drawn to the tranquility and uncluttered appeal inherent to this natural, flowing home design.
The Osprey
Approx. 513 square feet, 1 bedroom, 1 bath
Designed to meet the needs of Baby Boomers, Echo Boomers and RV enthusiasts seeking an affordable Green weekend retreat, the Osprey is approximately 513 square feet of efficiently designed living space with one bedroom, one bath, a large great room and integrated decks that provide a generous living area for a weekend get-a-way or year round living.
The eye-catching, low maintenance metal exterior of the Osprey exemplifies the home’s defining contemporary design. Bamboo, cork and other natural materials are layered in throughout the interior to accentuate the home’s clean lines. The galley kitchen is the model of efficiency, integrating solid surface counters, a steam microwave, a lift oven, a barbeque griddle and modular refrigeration. The relaxing spa shower features a push button control to activate the heated floor when stepping out. Naturally, the latest in technology has not been overlooked, including programmable structured wiring, multiple zone audio and stylish LED lighting to create the perfect mood at the end of a long day.
An abundance of sustainable features allow the Osprey homeowner to go completely off the electrical grid if they so choose. Components such as SmartSun glass windows and doors, closed cell foam insulation and SIS panels that wrap the exterior provide a water resistant barrier and enhance thermal efficiency. A dual zoned ductless heat pump featuring Inverter technology ensures even interior comfort throughout. Endless hot water is available due to an integrated energy saving tankless design. For those seeking supplemental energy, the Osprey even provides the latest thin-film solar technology integrated within the standing seam metal roofing panels.

I wish I lived in Vegas, just to see this show!
I love the Osprey. I just saw the photo on another site and thought “Wow!” And then the features are terrific…integrated thin film solar panel roof, cork, bamboo….I like everything about it.
I like this size home very much, 113 sq. ft. bigger than a “park model” and much better built.
Way to go Palm Harbor.
The “La Linda” is beautiful as well.

Globetrotter – Thanks for your review of our homes for the show! You are right – the Osprey is going to change the way people think about modern energy efficient affordable homes. Economical and Ecological. Hope you can make it to the show! But if you can’t, check back here about a week after the show – we will be working hard to get out the photos so everyone can see them.

If you click on my name “Greenotter,” in blue here, you will be taken to my i-house blog, where my most recent post is a favorable comparison of the Osprey to the i-house, and introducing my readers to your new “eco-cottages.”
The Clayton i-house (a green modular home) had the advantage of a well-publicized introduction at Warren Buffet’s Berkshire-Hathaway shareholder’s conference (several media outlets even had video of it), followed by an Associated Press article that topped Yahoo’s MOST POPULAR list.
My i-house blog, just a hobby effort of mine, received thousands of hits in a single day on the day of the Associated Press article.
Even with all that great publicity — and the i-house is a nice product — sales are off to a slow start in this housing market.
Anyway, I have a novel marketing idea for green manufactured homes, that is only possible in the internet age. I introduce this idea near the end of my blog post of May 8, 2009. Please read it if you are interested in what I consider would be a totally new marketing idea for affordable green modular homes, to make their viability and livability more REAL to people.
See index on right column of my blog to find the May 8, 2009 post.

I have a 14 home development with narrow lot configurations . I need to provide 3 bdrm/2 bath / 2 car garage single family homes at reasonable costs with cutting edge green factors . I like the highland model layout and style . I need to know if a garage can be added to the bottom level or if you have something similar that would qualify . Please contact me in order to review the possibilities . Thank you , Gabe Gonzalez Jr
